Class Description

Class starts at 6:45 pm, Tuesday and lasts for twelve weeks.

Basic handling techniques are introduced. Focus training is continued while experimenting with dog working off leash in a controlled environment. Dogs are taught proper jumping methods (i.e. where to take off, how to jump from an angle, experimentation with spread jumps). Exercises learned in beginners are reviewed to reinforce dog's confidence and ability in performing obstacles.

Objectives

  •  Groundwork and introduction to jumping

  •  Beginning of directional training

  •  Introduction of the basic strategies, handling and theories

  •  Reinforce proper startline behavior (i.e. the command “stay”)

  •  Special assistance in an individual’s problem area with obstacles

  •  Begin to work dog off lead

  •  Sequencing three to six obstacles with medium control

  • Prerequisites

  • Kruisin' Kanines beginner class or equivalent (tested by training director or named instructor)

  • Dog completes all equipment with handler as an aide

  • Dog has exhibited an "acceptable" recall
